It is directed by Hiroshi Nagahama and produced by Production I.G and Williams Street. Colin Stetson composes the music. The anime was announced in 2019 at Crunchyroll Expo and was initially scheduled to air sometime in 2022. It has been stated that the COVID-19 pandemic did not have an effect on the production.
